The Minister of Agriculture explained that these pesticides were seized during the control and inspection campaign carried out by the ministry in coordination with competent judicial and security bodiesDuring the period 2-8 October, Which targeted the plant pesticide shops and stores in the capital Sanaa.

, that the ministry represented by the General Administration of Plant Protection and in cooperation with the judiciary and the security services in the Secretariat of the capital carried out last week a campaign of control and inspection of the shops and stores of pesticides, during which the closure of 60 pesticidesshops and store contrary to the law of organization and circulation Plant Pesticides.
He pointed out that the campaign to control the shops and stores of pesticides according to the preliminary results was able to control 125 tons of banned and prohibited pesticides, Some of them entered the country illegally As well as pesticides not registered and not authorized for importand entered Yemen through smuggling.
The Minister of Agriculture said that the campaign comes within the framework of efforts to reduce the smuggling of pesticides that have become a threat to public health and environmental components as well as to reduce the phenomenon of storage of pesticides in unlicensed warehouses in densely populated neighborhoods, Stressing the continuation of the campaign to include warehouses and shops of pesticides in various governorates of the Republic.
The Minister of Irrigation praised the efforts made by the concerned bodies and the judicial and security authorities to control the prohibited and infringing pesticides and to limit the smuggling process.
He stressed that the Ministry will not tolerate taking measures against violators and smugglers as pesticides threaten food security in Yemen. He called on all traders of pesticides and agricultural materials to comply with the laws and regulations governing the import and handling of pesticides in a manner that does not make them liable to legal liability.

called for concerted efforts of official and popular to combat the phenomenon of smuggling pesticides and to eliminate the damage and risks to life in general .. He stressed the importance of focusing on raising awareness of the dangers of pesticides and activate the guidance aspects.

And its keenness to cooperate with the Ministry of Agriculture and concerned bodies in activities that serve the environment and public health,
and thus contribute to avoiding the risks and damages of banned and prohibited pesticides that have entered through smuggling.
The Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation and the Secretary of the capital have seen the quantities of pesticides seized and which have been monitored and placed in a number of stores of the ministry.
