The Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, represented by the General Directorate of Plant Protection in cooperation and coordination with the judiciary and the relevant security services, carried out a campaign of inspection and inspection of shops and storesof Plant PesticidesWithin the framework of the secretariat of the capital
And some districts of Sana'a Governorate during the period 2-8 October 2018. During the campaign, 60 shops and pesticide stores were closed (35 pesticide shops + 25 pesticides store) in violation of the Regulation of
Pesticides Trading Law No. 25 of 1999.
During the campaign, around 125 tons of banned, banned and restricted pesticides were banned (daimon white, pesticide, methadatheyounpesticide, benfenthen, methomyl, methyl bromide and mancosep) as well as unregistered pesticides that were not authorized to be imported and entered into the country through smuggling.
The implementation of this campaign comes within the framework of the efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation in cooperation with the competent security services and the judicial authorities to reduce the smuggling of pesticides that pose a real threat to public health and environmental components and to reduce the spread of pesticides in unlicensed warehouses in densely populated residential areas.
The Ministry also confirms that this campaign will continue and will include all governorates of the Republic.
The ministry calls upon the competent security and judicial authorities to alert all agents, importers and wholesale and retail sellers of pesticides to abide by the provisions of the Pesticides Regulatory Law and its executive regulations and not to trade any prohibited and restricted pesticides, as well as unregistered and unregistered pesticides. These pesticides have serious negative effects on public health and environmental components
